TALEMARK COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Talemark is a culture journal community created for logging, evaluating and discovering films and books, and for sharing these experiences with others.

These Community Guidelines are prepared to ensure that Talemark remains a safe, respectful, original and quality environment. The guidelines apply to profile information, reviews, replies, list comments, lists, quotes, images, usernames and all other content shared on Talemark.

By using Talemark, you agree to comply with these Guidelines and the Talemark Terms of Use.

1. Our core approach

On Talemark, we expect users to:

be able to freely express their opinions about works,
be able to respect different tastes and comments,
be able to distinguish criticism from personal attack,
protect the rights and privacy of others,
produce original and useful content,
be considerate of other users when it comes to spoilers.

A film, book, author, director, actor or idea may be harshly criticized. However, this freedom does not give the right to insult, threaten or target another user.

2. Areas where the guidelines apply

These Guidelines apply in the following areas:

username,
profile photo and profile banner,
biography and social links,
film and book reviews,
review replies,
list names and descriptions,
list comments,
book quotes,
shared images,
report and appeal descriptions,
communication established through Talemark support channels.

Private notes and agenda content are not public. However, if these areas become the subject of a concrete investigation relating to unlawful activity, threats, an attack on platform security or a risk of serious harm, they may need to be reviewed in a limited manner only by the necessary and authorized persons.

3. Respectful communication

Differences of opinion are natural on Talemark. Users may criticize a work, rating, list or comment; however, behavior that humiliates or intimidates another person is not permitted.

The following are prohibited:

direct insults,
degrading nicknames,
belittling,
persistent mockery,
repeated replies intended to silence or intimidate a user,
attacks based on private life,
degradation based on appearance, disability, economic status or similar personal characteristics,
organizing collective attacks by carrying the dispute to other platforms.

The fact that content is harsh, rude or disturbing does not on its own always mean a violation. The context, target, repetition, language used and harm created are taken into account in the assessment.

4. Harassment, bullying and targeting

Targeting a user in a repetitive, systematic or intimidating manner is prohibited.

The following behavior may be considered a violation:

continuously attacking the same user across different content,
trying to reach a blocked user with new accounts,
clearly directing others to attack a person,
launching a humiliating campaign about a user,
carrying harassment from private messages or external platforms to Talemark,
calling for harm to a person's work, family or social circle,
creating a threat of following, tracking or surveillance.

Criticizing a user's content and systematically targeting the user are not the same thing.

5. Threats and violence

Serious threats of violence against real persons or groups are not permitted.

The following are prohibited:

threats of physical harm,
calls to kill or injure,
calling for an attack by sharing a person's location,
encouraging serious violence,
plans or direction to organize an attack in real life,
targeted content encouraging suicide or self-harm.

Discussing, criticizing or quoting violence in works of fiction is not on its own a violation. Whether the content targets real persons and the intent to cause harm are taken into account in the assessment.

If an urgent and concrete security risk is noticed, the content may be removed, the account may be immediately restricted, and where required by applicable legislation, a notification may be made to the competent authorities.

6. Hate speech and discrimination

Content that degrades, dehumanizes, threatens or excludes persons or groups on the basis of protected characteristics is not permitted.

Protected characteristics may include the following:

race and ethnic origin,
nationality,
religion or belief,
gender,
sexual orientation,
gender identity,
disability,
age,
health status,
immigration or citizenship status.

The following are prohibited:

saying that a group is inferior or worthless,
calling for violence against a group,
dehumanizing analogies,
calls for discriminatory exclusion,
glorifying genocide or mass violence in order to degrade the target group,
using hate symbols for the purpose of targeting or propaganda.

Discussing hate speech in a historical, academic, critical or artistic context may be possible. However, the context must be clear and the content must not have the purpose of spreading hate.

7. Child safety

Zero tolerance is applied to content that sexually exploits children or endangers their safety.

The following are strictly prohibited:

content that depicts or encourages the sexual abuse of children,
the sexualization of children,
sexual solicitation or direction toward children,
attempting to establish inappropriate communication with children,
providing access or links to abuse material,
sharing personal information that endangers the safety of children.

Such content may be removed without prior warning, the account may be permanently closed, and where legally required, a notification may be made to the relevant authorities.

8. Sexual content and privacy

Talemark is a culture platform where adult-content films and books can be discussed. Criticizing or evaluating the sexual themes of a work is possible.

Nevertheless, the following are prohibited:

non-consensual sexual imagery or intimate content,
revenge-motivated sharing of private imagery,
unauthorized information about the sexual life of real persons,
explicit pornographic images,
direction for the purpose of sexual services or exploitation,
sexual harassment targeting users,
any sexual content involving children.

If unnecessarily explicit descriptions or images are used when discussing the content of a work, the content may be restricted.

9. Personal data and privacy

Do not share private or personal information belonging to another person without permission.

The following information is particularly sensitive:

home or work address,
private phone number,
identity number,
bank or payment information,
private email address,
health information,
precise location,
private correspondence,
login credentials,
private information belonging to family members.

Discussing a person's professional or artistic information that is already public in the context of a work is possible. However, this does not give the right to publish that person's private information.

Users must obtain the necessary permissions before sharing screenshots or correspondence containing the personal data of other persons.

10. Impersonation, fake identity and deception

Acting as if you are another person, brand, institution or Talemark employee is prohibited.

The following are not permitted:

impersonating the identity of another real person,
creating the impression of an official account,
giving the appearance of a verified account,
making a fake announcement on behalf of Talemark management,
deceiving users with phishing or fake support messages,
committing fraud with misleading profile information.

Fan, parody or commentary accounts may be permitted as long as they clearly indicate the nature of the account and do not mislead users.

11. Spam and artificial engagement

Behavior aimed at artificially increasing visibility or engagement on Talemark is prohibited.

The following may be considered spam or manipulation:

repeatedly sharing the same or similar content,
leaving advertisements on other content with irrelevant comments,
generating automated likes, follows or comments,
buying followers or engagement,
using numerous fake accounts,
directing users to misleading links,
carrying out bulk and unauthorized promotion,
filling comment areas with campaign or chain messages.

Sharing your own list, review or culture-focused project to a reasonable extent is possible. However, Talemark is primarily a culture journal and community platform; it is not a permanent advertising space.

12. Commercial content and advertising

Talemark currently does not offer a system of commercial advertising or sponsored content between users.

The following may be prohibited or restricted:

unauthorized advertising of products and services,
continuously sharing sales links,
misleading discount or profit promises,
promotion of betting, gambling or illegal services,
fake giveaways,
pyramid or get-rich-quick schemes,
directing users to make payments outside the application.

If a piece of content contains a personal interest, sponsorship or commercial connection, this relationship must be clearly indicated.

13. Spoiler rules

Talemark supports users being able to talk about works in detail. However, spoiler tools must be used correctly in order to hide important events from users who have not yet experienced the work.

13.1 Content that may be considered a spoiler

The following may be spoilers:

endings or major plot developments,
a character's death,
a hidden identity,
an unexpected culprit or perpetrator,
an important relationship or betrayal,
the core surprise of the book or film,
decisive information that leads directly to the conclusion.

13.2 User responsibility

If a review or comment contains significant spoilers:

enable the relevant spoiler option,
do not give spoilers in the title or the first visible section,
clearly indicate spoilers of works other than the work being discussed,
be more careful with newly published works.

13.3 Moderation

Giving a spoiler is not a serious violation in every case. However:

knowingly and repeatedly spreading spoilers,
writing spoilers with the intent to disturb users,
systematically not using the spoiler warning

may result in a warning, hiding of the content or, in the case of repetition, a feature restriction.

14. Review and rating integrity

Ratings and reviews must reflect genuine user opinions.

The following are prohibited:

carrying out organized rating manipulation despite not having watched or read a work,
organizing a campaign to collectively boost or lower a work,
resharing the same content from different accounts,
writing a positive or negative review for a fee or benefit and concealing this,
copying other users' reviews,
producing bulk, low-quality content with artificial intelligence or automation.

Getting ideas, language correction or draft support from artificial intelligence tools is not on its own prohibited. However, the responsibility for the shared content belongs to the user, and the content must not be spam, a copy or misleading.

15. Copyright and originality

Users must only publish content of which they are the rights holder or that they are legally authorized to share.

The following are prohibited:

sharing a full book or substantially long sections,
publishing film or series footage extensively and without permission,
copying another user's review,
reproducing paid articles or reviews without permission,
sharing download links intended for copyright infringement,
providing links to pirated films, books or audiobooks,
directing toward circumventing technical protection measures.

Limited quotes made for the purpose of criticism, review, discussion or personal record may be evaluated taking into account scope, context and applicable law.

16. Book quotes

The quote feature on Talemark may not be used to publish the whole or a substantial part of a book.

Quotes:

must be of a reasonable length,
must include the work and author information where possible,
must not substitute for the economic value of the work,
must not be in the form of consecutive pages or long chapter copies,
must not be obtained by circumventing access restrictions.

A user reconstructing a substantial part of a work piece by piece with numerous short quotes may also be considered a violation.

17. Images

The following rules apply to profile photos, banners and list covers:

You must have the right to use the image.
Explicit pornographic images or images that violate child safety are prohibited.
Intimate imagery of real persons must not be shared without permission.
Hate symbols must not be used for the purpose of propaganda or targeting.
Graphic images containing violence may be restricted.
The appearance of a fake official account must not be created.
Images containing harmful links, QR codes or fraud redirects may not be used.

Talemark may review images in an automated or manual moderation queue.

18. Usernames and profile information

Usernames and profile information:

must not impersonate another person,
must not contain insults or hate speech,
must not give a misleading impression of an official account,
must not disclose private information or contact details,
must not have a spam or advertising purpose.

Talemark may request that a username be changed or may temporarily reserve a username in the event of security, rights infringement, impersonation or a trademark dispute.

The redistribution of usernames that have been unused for a long time may only be carried out within the scope of a clear username policy to be published separately.

19. Blocking feature

When you block a user, Talemark may restrict the interaction between the relevant users.

To circumvent the blocking feature, the following are prohibited:

opening a new account,
using other users as intermediaries,
continuing harassment from external platforms,
systematically trying to reach the content of the person who blocked you.

Blocking may not guarantee that public content will be technically invisible in every case; however, direct interaction and visibility are restricted to the extent possible.

20. Submitting a report

If you believe that a piece of content or an account violates these Guidelines, you can use the report feature in the application.

When submitting a report:

select the most appropriate reason for the violation,
write a short and concrete description if possible,
do not present misleading or altered evidence,
do not turn personal disagreements into a malicious report campaign.

Submitting a report does not mean that the content will be automatically removed. Each report is evaluated taking into account context, evidence, content type and risk level.

The identity of the person who submits the report is not shared with the reported user unless legally required or necessary for a safe review.

21. Abuse of the reporting system

The reporting system may not be used for the following purposes:

silencing a user whose opinion you disagree with,
submitting collective reports in an organized manner,
targeting a competitor, a former friend or a person with whom there is personal enmity,
presenting fake evidence,
misleading the moderation team,
maliciously repeating the same request that has been resolved multiple times.

Malicious reports may result in a warning, temporary restriction of the reporting feature or, in serious cases, an account sanction.

22. Moderation approach

Talemark moderation is conducted with the following principles:

Context: The entirety of the content and the development of the discussion are taken into account.
Proportionality: The sanction must be proportionate to the severity of the violation.
Consistency: As far as possible, a similar approach is applied to similar incidents.
Safety: In cases of an urgent risk of harm, rapid measures may be taken.
Appeal: In appropriate cases, the user is given the opportunity to request that the decision be re-reviewed.
Privacy: Report, moderation and security records are reviewed only by the necessary persons.
Human evaluation: For permanent account sanctions, human review is conducted to the extent possible.

Talemark does not assume an obligation of prior approval or continuous monitoring for each piece of content. Moderation may begin upon a user report, an automated signal or Talemark's own review.

23. Applicable sanctions

Depending on the nature of the violation, one or more of the following actions may be applied:

No action taken
Informing the user
Marking the content as a spoiler or sensitive content
Requesting that the content be edited
Warning
Reducing the visibility of the content
Temporarily hiding the content
Removing the content
Temporary restriction of certain features such as commenting, reviewing, following or creating lists
Temporarily suspending the account
Permanently closing the account
Notification to the relevant authorities in the event of a security or legal necessity

Talemark is not obliged to start with a lighter sanction. In situations such as a serious security risk, the exploitation of children, a real threat, a system attack, fraud or a serious rights infringement, a permanent sanction may be applied directly.

24. Criteria for evaluating sanctions

When determining a sanction, the following criteria may be taken into account:

the severity of the violation,
the person or group targeted by the content,
actual harm or the likelihood of harm,
intent,
the number of repetitions,
the user's previous violations,
whether the user has cooperated,
the reach and spread level of the content,
the security or legal risk,
the context of the incident that occurred.

The same word or sentence may be subject to a different evaluation depending on the context.

25. Right of appeal

If action is applied regarding your content or account, you may be informed of the basic reason in situations where an explanation is not objectionable for security or legal reasons.

If you believe the decision is incorrect, you can use:

the appeal option in the application,
or the support@talemark.app address.

In your appeal, share:

your username,
the relevant content or action information,
why you think the decision is wrong,
any supporting information or documents.

Appeals are, where possible, re-reviewed independently of the initial evaluation. The outcome may be:

revocation of the decision,
reduction of the sanction,
change of the sanction,
confirmation of the decision.

26. Emergencies

The following situations may be evaluated as emergencies:

a real and imminent threat of violence,
a risk to the safety of children,
non-consensual intimate content,
account takeover,
fraud or phishing,
an attack on system security,
abuse affecting numerous users.

In these situations, content or an account may be temporarily restricted without prior notification. When the review is completed, the decision may be re-evaluated.

Emergency security notifications may be sent to support@talemark.app. Talemark is not an emergency aid or law enforcement service. If there is an imminent and serious physical danger, you should contact the emergency aid or competent law enforcement units in your location.

27. Legal requests and official authorities

Talemark may share necessary and proportionate information or restrict access to content in the face of a valid law, court decision or request of a competent authority.

Manifestly unauthorized, vaguely scoped or unlawful requests are evaluated to the extent possible and, if deemed necessary, may be objected to.

If notifying the user is not legally prohibited and does not endanger safety, information about the relevant action may be provided.

28. Transparency and changes to the guidelines

These Guidelines may be updated due to:

new features,
new methods of abuse,
legal changes,
community needs,
moderation experience.

For significant changes:

the last updated date and document version are changed,
where appropriate, an in-app notification or email is sent,
for changes that significantly affect user rights, separate acceptance may be requested.

If a violation occurred before a guideline update, the guideline change is not applied retroactively to the detriment of the user; however, ongoing or reshared content may be evaluated according to the current guidelines.

29. Relationship between the documents

These Community Guidelines apply together with the following documents:

In the event of a conflict between these Guidelines and the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use apply with respect to the legal relationship. With respect to the processing of personal data, the Privacy Policy, the KVKK Disclosure Notice and applicable data protection legislation are taken as the basis.
